Boo Hoo Girl (Punch Art)

This card was made by my friend and customer, Nancy Baker, whose work I've shared before.  She made this for the birthday of a mutual friend.

 The face is the Ornament Punch (119847, retiring, 25% off).  The hair is the Scallop Oval Punch.  The mouth is a Circle Punch.  She used the Little Leaves Sizzlit, Boho Blossoms Punch and a punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack for the flower above the Happy Birthday Label (which is from the Bitty Banners Framelits). The medallion was made with a Scallop Punch (not sure which size) which was punched twice, with a smaller circle layered inside.  Not sure what else, though I believe several parts were hand cut.

Some of the supplies I recognize:  a label from the Lots of Tags Sizzlits (retiring), a retired Embossing Folder, Butterfly Embosslits, Ticket Corner Punch (retired).  I'm sure the crocuses are made with some small piece from a punch, but I don't know which one.

Relay for Life Fundraiser Projects

Here are the projects we'll make at the Relay for Life fundraiser on April 20th.  I sure hope you can join us to benefit this cause that's so important.  You can see more details about the fundraiser here.

We will make four projects - 2 cards, a treat pouch and a corner bookmark.  Two of the projects can be customized.

 Participants will be able to select the sentiment for the Wild Wasabi card.  Any stamp from Teeny Tiny Wishes will fit in the Word Window punch.  As you can see, there are lots of options:

There are three option for the treat pouch "FRIEND" (shown in top picture), "congrats grad" or "Happy Birthday".  The bottom treat pouch is shown with candy to give you an idea of how to fill it.

 Here's the bookmark in a book.  It goes over the corner of your page so that it doesn't fall out.

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 254

It's time for another Techno Stamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  I hope you'll play along this week!  All you do is make a project that uses this sketch as your inspiration.  Then you link it to the Techno Stamper blog*.  While you're there, you can see the samples from the rest of the design team.

Here's the card I made.  As you can see, I added some smaller butterflies in the top right corner.  It just looked a little plain without them.  Besides, they give you five butterflies on the butterfly embosslit for a reason! (lol)  The fifth is on the inside.

Just so you can see the difference, here's how I made the card originally (keeping to the sketch).  I might have liked it better if I'd embossed the Baja Breeze card stock, but I didn't even think of it until after it was taped down.  I know - shocking, right?  I could still send this to someone, but I think the butterflies in the corner add that finishing touch.

Late Night Stampers and Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenges

Good Morning Stampers!  This week I doubled up on my design team challenges again.  This sketch went together so easily.  I can see me going back to it when I need a card in a hurry.  Longest part?  I couldn't find the stamp set I wanted to use for the inside.

The Late Night Stampers Challenge this  week is:

Spring is in the air - use some of your flower stamps!
(I used Designer Series Paper with flowers, instead of stamps, on the front but I think it still qualifies.  Just in case, I did use a flower stamp on the inside.  Besides, while I tend to take challenges somewhat literally, they really are meant to challenge you in an effort to expand your creativity.  And once the creativity starts flowing, who knows where you'll end up?)

And here's my card.   I couldn't get rid of the shadows.  I tried.  I probably took 10 pictures and the only one without shadows was all washed out.  This is a compromise - not quite as bright as in real life, but the shadows aren't too bad.

The card is 4" square.  I used the Bitty Banners Framelits so that my banners would match.  It helped that they were just the size I wanted.

Late Night Stampers Challenge 209 - Amazing Family

I am very excited and honored to announce that I have been asked to be a guest designer for the Late Night Stampers (LNS) weekly challenge.  Thanks so much for asking me!  I've played along with this challenge several times in the past so you may have seen posts referring to the LNS challenge.  I invite all of you to check out the creative samples made by the design team and also to play along yourself.

This week's theme is Feeling Blue--make a sample with blue as your main color.  Here's what I created:

My sister is also my friend, so it seemed appropriate to put the two together.  The ampersand came from Lovely Letters.  I saw something recently (I think in our demo magazine from Stampin' Up) about using the ampersand from alphabet sets.  That may have helped spark the idea for this card.  I added the butterflies from the Butterfly Embosslits to go with the butterflies on the designer series paper from Patio Party.  I added a rhinestone on bottom image for a little sparkle.  Ink colors are Pool Party and Midnight Muse.

I'm so pleased to be a part of this talented group of stampers.  I hope you enjoy seeing my samples each week.

Butterflies and Flowers

Here's a coordinating set I designed.  I think it's nice when you give a gift to coordinate the card with the packaging if possible.

 The candy wrapper die is an interesting way to package a small gift.  You could also fill it with candy and use it as a favor at a banquet or party.  Here is a close up of the candy wrapper.

 This is a 3 x 3 card.  Stampin' Up sells square envelopes to fit this size card.  They can't be mailed, but are great for hand delivering, packing in a lunchbox, leaving on a co-workers desk, or attaching to a gift.

Team Meeting (inc. savings jar and card)

My upline, Frances Wagner, held a team meeting this weekend and fortunately I was able to go.  We always have a great time at these meetings.  First, Frances went over some information to help us build our business and then we did a make and take.

2013 is Stampin' Up's 25th anniversary and Frances said it would be fun if we could go to convention that summer.  She made us these adorable jars so we could start saving.  She even gave us each a quarter to get us started!  Thanks Frances!

 Here are some close-ups so you can see the details.  The idea for this jar came from the founder of Stampin' Up, Shelli Gardner's blog.  Look at the great use of the baker's twine (both tied through the doily and under the pennant).  The Paper Doily die cut really sets off the rosette, which was made with the Designer Rosette Die.  The butterfly, cut with the Butterfly Embosslit, makes a wonderful embellishment for the pennant, which was punched with the Petite Pennants Punch.  The brad is one you can get for free during Sale-A-Bration.  Frances hand wrote Convention 2013 on the pennant, which was stamped with Pennant Parade.

This is the Make and Take that Frances prepared for us.  Isn't it cute?  The stamps are from Fresh Vintage, which you can get for free during Sale-A-Bration, and Friendly Phrases.  We also used the eyelet border punch, Calypso Coral 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon, oval punch, scallop oval punch and an Everyday Enchantment brad, which you can get for free during S-A-B.

Simple and Quick Card

I only used 6 items on this card -- Bordering on Romance, Elementary Elegance (you can get this set for free during Sale-A-Bration), Butterfly embosslits, Whisper White cardstock, Calypso Coral cardstock and Calypso Coral ink.  It's simple and went together quickly, but I really like it.

Blossom Punch and Butterfly Embosslits

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Sale-A-Bration DSP, Everyday Enchantment!  The ladies at our team meeting last weekend know it b/c every time I worked with a new sheet I think I said it again.  I also love that I got it for FREE!  And you can, too, just by placing a $50 order between Jan. 24 and Mar. 31, 2012.  The order can consist of anything Stampin' Up sells.

As you might have guessed, today's card has Everyday Enchantment DSP on the background. All I did was use Stampin' Dimensionals to add a few Butterfly Embosslits and a flower punched with the new Blossom Punch.  I love both of these products, too.  I kept the flower plain so I didn't take away from the background paper, but the Blossom Punch has a coordinating stamp set which makes this punch a must have (the flower center is from that set (Mixed Bunch)). And in the very center of the flower is a Sale-A-Bration brad that I got for free.  Cardstock used is Bashful Blue, Calypso Coral and Peach Parfait.

Define Your Life (w/ butterfly)

I love the set Define Your Life.  It has so many great definitions to use on scrapbook pages, on cards or on other paper crafts.  Instead of retiring this set, I think they need to come out with a Define Your Life 2.  Unfortunately, that choice is not up to me :(

Here's a card I actually did a while ago.  I've made it in several different colors -- sponged and not sponged.  Sometimes, I've changed the definition.  I liked them all.  We did this card in Ruby Red in a class.

Though they are a little hard to see in this picture, the flowers look really nice in person.

Seeing this card again has inspired me to go make some.  And I know just who I'm going to give them to.

Project Give Thanks Cards

Last night I had the opportunity to make cards with our United Methodist Women group for Project Give Thanks.  You can learn more about the project here:

We made these cards so that we can start supplying a local cancer center.  There are over 60 cards here and these are just the ones I designed and prepped.  Another woman from our church also prepared for the evening and total we made about 100 cards and over 40 bookmarks (to put in the cards).  Great job ladies!

Next Wednesday morning, I will be doing this again with our UMW morning circle.  If you are in the Garner/Raleigh/Southern Wake County area and would like to help with this project, we'd love to have you.  E-mail me and I will gladly send directions (or an address if you want to mail cards you've already made).

I used an assortment of supplies on the above cards, some retired and some current, most of it Stampin' Up (the cream colored base on the embossed card is the only thing that isn't SU).  I tried to keep the cards simple since we were making so many of them and also because I didn't want to overwhelm anyone who might be new to card making.

The top card is Crushed Curry.  The flower is made with the Blossom Petals Punch and the sentiment is from Because I Care.  Next to it I used the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder with a sentiment from Kind and Caring Thoughts.  The last one in the top row uses the Butterfly embosslit.  The stamp set is from last year's Sale-a-bration.

The card on the bottom left uses the set Botanical Blooms and the thank you from Because I Care.  Do you know where the Certainly Celery and Pink scalloped layers came from?  The Princess Pary Kit!  We'll make more cards using elements from this kit on Wednesday morning.

The card in the middle bottom uses Sunny Fun and Word Play (which is 30% off this month -- contact me if you'd like to order it).  The one next to it uses Engraved Greetings and Punch Potpourri (it's hard to see, but it's in the upper right corner).  The 1/4" Whisper White grosgrain ribbon also came from the Princess Party Kit, which is available on the Clearance Rack.

Bendy Fold Card

As promised in my last post, here's my version of the bendy card.  This card is so much fun!  I have to thank my friend Corothy, who originally saw this card on the Internet and suggested that we make one in a class.  Speaking of which, due to participant illness the morning Spring Class has been rescheduled for next Thursday, March 10 at 10:00am.  E-mail me (address is in header) or comment on this post if you're able to come.

That's a great little set. I'm currently working on a card with that set using the Game Spinner Hands. I'll post it when I'm done.

Now, on to my cards.  This first one is the one we will make in the Spring class next Thursday.  I just got Forest Friends for free (thanks to Sale-a-bration!) and thought it would be perfect for this type of card.  The flowers are from the hostess set Punch Potpourri, which I also got for free.  Host your own workshop (party) before the end of March and you, too, could get these sets for free!

Here's the very first bendy card I made -- very cheerful and Spring-like with the bright colors, flowers and butterlies.

Here's a close up of the phrase on the front, which comes from Simply Said (as did the flowers on the back panel).  Sorry it's a little blurry (it's not on the card, just in my photo), but it says, "a friend is someone who makes it easy."  How true!

These cards will fit in a regular sized envelope -- just take the tabs out of the slots and lay flat.

Graduation Cards

Here are a couple of graduation cards I made using the Happy Grad stamp:

I made the cards in each of the graduate's school colors.  The red and black one was inspired by a card posted on Splitcoast by berlycece.  It was for a girl.  The blue and gold one was for a boy, so I used the first card as inspiration for the second.

Inside, I put some more embossed butterflies (red and black card) and stamped some star images (blue and gold card).  I think the star stamp came from Sporting (which is retiring).  I also combined sentiments from three sets to get the message I wanted to say (Congratulations, You did it!, and Happy Graduation).

The background textures are not SU, but everything else is.  The black twine is retired (but I can get you a pack if you want one) and some of the colors (Brilliant Blue and Summer Sun) are retiring.  Everything else, including the Basic Black 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, is staying.

Stampin' Up Chocolate Bunny card

This card (or a slightly tweaked version) is one of the cards we'll make at the March 4 class.  Contact me today to register.  The chocolate bunny looks so cool when embossed.  Sorry about the poor photography.  I tried photographing the card in three different places and this is the best I could get.  The colors are much richer in person.  The embossing isn't a whole lot better, though.  I tried to use classic ink, even though I knew better and that's why only half of it's embossed :)  I've ordered Craft ink for the class so your bunnies will all look shiny and chocolately and yummy.

Butterfly Hinge Card

Here's how I finished off the butterfly hinge card.  You can see the original a few posts back.  Funny thing, my club ended up split on how they wanted to make their card.  Half did it the original way (the bottom had a tone on tone background stamped with Sprinkles); the other half did it like this with the Sweet Pea DSP.

You can see on the right how the card opens.  I still haven't put the message inside, but I think the one on the card below is perfect.  It's from Hope Happens, which is full of great sayings.

This is a quick card made using the Beautiful Butterflies die and sponged around the edges.  The butterfly body is made by tying hemp twine around it.  Like I said, I love the saying.

Hinge Card and Eyelet Border Punch Flower

Hi friends.  Today I have two fun projects for you.  The first card has a flower made with the eyelet border punch.  It's easy to do, but does take some practice.  I know it's a little early for Easter Cards, but I really wanted to show you this flower.  Want to know how to make it?  Come next Thursday to find out.  Details are at the bottom of the post.

The next card is a hinge card.  Don't you love the way it opens?  I need to stamp the sentiment inside, but I'm still looking for the perfect one.  Any suggestions?  If so, leave a comment.  I'd love to know what you think.  We will also make this card next Thursday, though I'm still "tweaking" it.

It's hard to tell in the picture, but I used the Sprinkles set to stamp a light background on the top (butterflies) and the bottom (flowers).  It shows up just right in person.  I just couldn't capture it in the picture.

The bottom two butterflies are from the Bigz butterfly die and the small one on top is from the new embosslit.  Isn't is great how they go together?  I'll be posting more butterfly cards in the near future, so be sure to check back soon.

All the butterflies on this card made me happy, so I used the set Happy Everything set on it.  I've only added happy so far, but the great thing about this set is that when I'm ready to give the card I can customize it.  There are several words to pair with happy -- birthday, days and everything to name a few.  And, if the seven words included in the set aren't enough, you can add words from other sets.  Plus, I just love the font.
