Beauty And Joy Christmas Cards

As I shared in my last post, I was selected as a Stamper of the Month by my upline, Frances Wagner, and was given the Beauty and Joy set with which to make samples. I've been sharing more regularly on our team Facebook page, but have been a little slower getting the projects to my blog. Hopefully you'll think these were worth the wait.

The inspiration for this card came about because I had some leftover pieces from my recent Stamp-a-Stack that I wanted to use. Since I had Real Red glimmer paper in the background, I used red rhinestones on the tree and cut the star out of gold glimmer paper using the Stitched Stars dies. I used the urn to hold the tree because it seems a little fancier than the basket.

Because I like to see what different changes make to the look of a card, I did a non-sparkly red card. Since it was more rustic, I went with the basket instead of the urn. I used a Q-tip to make the ornaments. After I had it done, I saw the little dots/berries in the Beauty and Joy set. I think I'd use those next time. The background strip on this card and the next card were embossed using the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder.

The 3rd card was even more rustic, with brown instead of red and no ornaments or berries. I used my scissors to rough up the edges of the mounted layer. I also used a sponge dauber to lightly sponge some ink on the embossed background strip to highlight the wood grain.

Now for some exciting news!

On 10/23/19, Stampin' Up! is having a 24 hour sale! Save 15% on select stamps. Be aware that these 24 hours are Mountain Time. NC Demos Blog Hop - Holiday Edition

Welcome to the November NC Demos Blog Hop. It doesn't matter which holiday you are celebrating, Hanukkah to Christmas to New Year's Eve and everything in between, December is ALL about celebrating with parties, card and gift giving, and holiday traditions old and new. So, the theme for our November Blog Hop, just days away from the start of Hanukkah and exactly one month before Christmas, is Holiday Happenings.

This is a gift card holder that we made in stamp club recently. It's decorated to look like a gift and can be given to the recipient as is, but I did size it so that it would fit in a standard size envelope. That way you can easily mail it if needed. You could easily modify the Designer Series Paper (DSP) and sentiment to match any gift giving occasion. Be sure to also change the cardstock colors to match your DSP.

Here's the inside card, which just slides out at the top.

You can see how the gift card slips in the pocket.

This is the back. We used the Gift Bag Punch Board, which left nice finished edges along the bottom. You can use the Subtle embossing folder to get the textured look.

Here's a picture of it scored and cut out but not folded, which might be helpful if you make one yourself.

Base piece: 7.5” x 6”  Score along the long side at 2.25” and 5.75”  At each score line, punch with the Gift Bag Punch Board. Use the horizontal score line on the punch board to score along the length of the bottom. Cut off the outside flaps, leaving only the center one as shown. Use the 1.25” circle punch to make the half circle at the top.

Supplies:

Stamps: Dashing Deer
Ink: Shaded Spruce
Cardstock:  Real Red, Shaded Spruce, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper (DSP): Under The Mistletoe
Ribbon:  Real Red 1/8" Solid Ribbon

Online Extravaganza is going on now! Save 10% on select items. November 25–26 STAMPS & KITS and November 27–28 TOOLS & INK.  See the Online Extravaganza page for full details. Merry Cafe

I know...Christmas was yesterday. But at our house we have several celebrations with different parts of our family. Today was our final Christmas celebration, so I have a final Christmas card to share with you - as well as a couple of other cards that use the cute set, Merry Cafe, and the coordinating Coffee Cup Framelits.

Merry Cafe and Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper (the DSP on the middle card) are retiring January 2nd and only available while supplies last.

You can cover a lot of holidays/seasons with this stamp set:

Look at all these gorgeous designs:

These cards were all made as part of a shoebox swap at a demo only event I attended. Unfortunately, I don't have the names of the demos who designed and brought each of these cards. If you're reading this post and one of these is your card, leave a comment and I'll add the credit.

Peace On Earth

Merry Christmas everyone!

Here are two variations of the same card, using the Carols Of Christmas stamp set and Card Front Builder Thinlits. The message is one that shows up at Christmas but in truth should be at the forefront year-round.

We made this first card in stamp club a couple months ago. If you'd like to learn make cards like this and other great projects, as well as fun techniques and fancy folds, consider joining my Stamp Club. A new round  is starting in January. Contact me to get more information or to sign up. Details are also available here.

I made this next card as part of a shoebox swap at a demo event earlier this year. I think I used it for inspiration for the card I designed for club but that was so long ago, I don't quite remember. There's been a lot of stamping going on since then!

I like the darker colors of the card I designed but I also think the snow and the sparkle from the Silver Glimmer Paper are nice. It's interesting to me how cards can be very similar in design but have a different feel based on the papers used.

The Card Front Builder Thinlits and Carols of Christmas stamp set are retiring when the Holiday Catalog ends on January 2, 2018, so be sure to get them before they are gone. The retiring list can be found here.

Gift Tags

As you wrap those last minute packages, here are a few ideas.

These tags are made with the Merry Little Labels stamp set, Everyday Label punch, assorted Designer Series Papers, Garden Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon, and Jute Twine.

The outer tags were made by me but designed by Martinette Horner as part of a project we made at the NC Stampin' Up! Demos event I went to in September. If you'd like to attend events like this, join my team and we can go together. Getting together with other demos is lots of fun and just one of the many benefits of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. Contact me or check out my website for more details.

I designed the other tag, but apparently the ribbon was added after the picture was taken.

This tag is made with the Many Mittens Framelits. The thread I used is retired, but Stampin' Up! offers lots of ribbon and Baker's Twine options that would work.

The tag opens up to put a message inside. These framelits have a coordinating stamp set, Smitten Mittens, that has a TO/FROM stamp in it. However, the stamp I used comes from Cookie Cutter Christmas. The message comes from Nature Sings. I got this idea from Pinterest but modified it some.

I came up with another cute idea using the Many Mittens Framelits - a Christmas ornament. Instead of making it like a book, just layer the three layers (Real Red front and back with Sahara Sand in the middle).  Be sure to attach the hanging ribbon inside as you glue the layers together. The ornament hangs the opposite way of the tag (band up).

Many Mittens includes some dies that emboss and I used one of them to emboss the band on the back of the ornament. It gives it a finished look.

This ornament also looks cute hung on a bottle of wine you are giving as a gift, such as a hostess gift. It does double duty because it dresses up the bottle for gift giving, but then the recipient also has the ornament. You could also use this to embellish a package instead of a bow.

Several of the items in today's post are discounted and/or retiring when the Holiday Catalog ends. These items are only available while supplies last. Check it out at my online store. While you're there, check out the Clearance Rack which was recently updated. Current hostess code is BDBZUZSX.

Carols Of Christmas

We made this card earlier in the year at Stamp Club. It was made with the Carols of Christmas stamp set and Card Front Builder Thinlits.

Sometimes club members like to add their own spin to a card. This variation was done by Corothy.

Carols of Christmas stamp set and Card Front Builder Thinlits are both available through my online store. Thanks for choosing me as your demonstrator.

Merry Christmas - Noel Banner

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I got this idea for a NOEL banner from Craft Project Central. I didn't have many of the products they used, so I improvised. Here's my version:

I know it's a little hard to see with the brick background. It's hanging from my mantle. Here's a close up of one of the letters:
Each letter is stamped using the Metro Type Alphabet, layered on punched and die cut circles and then mounted on an ornament which is die cut with the Delicate Ornament Framelits. The ornament is layered on a Square Pillow Box made with the Square Pillow Box Thinlit. I used assorted ribbons to attach the Pillow Boxes and hang the garland. I also used gold sequins for a little shine. Each box is attached to the 1 1/4" striped ribbon with a mini clothespin that has Designer Series Paper (DSP) glued on it.

Layered Delicate Ornaments

The Delicate Ornaments Framelits from Stampin' Up! are so beautiful! Look how pretty this one cut from Silver Glimmer Paper and then layered on a solid Night of Navy ornament is. The ornament topper is cut from a Gold Foil Sheet.

The base layer is Mellow Moss card stock embossed with the Fancy Fan embossing folder (retired). The sentiment is from Many Merry Messages (retired). I absolutely love the Real Red 3/8" Satin Woven Ribbon. It just looks so rich to me. And guess what? It's on the Clearance Rack for only $2.79.
