Valentine's Banner

Don't you love how sometimes a mistake turns into something you love?  I've seen lots of banners that people have made and have thought about getting the pennant die, but I wondered how much I'd really use it.  Well, the other day when I went to make the Hanging Heart (that I posted here), I forgot that when you use a die with score lines you need to only cut one at a time.  I cut 4 and was left with two petal cones that were falling apart.  That's when it hit me that I could use the separate triangle pieces for a banner.  Here's the result: 

Big hearts were cut with the Hearts Framelits.  Letters were punched with the Heart Punch and framed with a heart from the retired Movers and Shapers (some parts of which are still on the Clearance Rack).

 Close up of the heart on the left.  It was stamped with the You Are Loved Stamp Set.

 Close up of the heart on the right.  The arrow is from the retired Game Spinner Hands, which are still available on Clearance Rack.  The smallest heart was punched with the Heart to Heart punch and the Chocolate Chip one behind it was cut out with my Paper Snips. 

Close up of an individual letter.   The letters were stamped with the Morning Post Alphabet stamp set.  The Designer Series Paper is First Edition.  The brads are retired (but you guessed it - still on the Clearance Rack).  The pennant piece was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

Valentine Tote

This Valentine tote was one of the projects we made in my last stamp club.  We used the Box #2 die, along with Take It To Heart, the Heart punch, the Heart to Heart punch, the Extra Large Oval punch, Teeny Tiny Wishes, the Word window punch, the Modern Label punch, the Movers and Shapers Punch Windows (used with the original Magnetic Movers and Shapers die), 1/4" Whisper White grosgrain ribbon, 1/8" Pretty in Pink ribbon, Patterns Pack DSP (Subtles), Whisper White and Pretty in Pink cardstock, and Pretty in Pink ink. 

Fill the tote and it will make a cute Valentine's gift.  Here are a couple examples of things that will fit:

Embedded Embossing - Valentine

This card is made with the Embedded Embossing technique.

Supplies Used:

Heart to Heart punch, Scallop Circle # 2 die, Square Lattice embossing folder, Patterns Pack Brights DSP, Real Red and Whisper White cardstock, 1/4" Whisper White grosgrain ribbon, and the Big Shot

Paper Doily Love Card

I have another Valentine card today.  It uses the new Paper Doily large Sizzlet die, which is so pretty.  I used my Big Shot to cut the doily, the Designer Series Paper (Scallop Circle # 2 die), the Real Red circle (Circles #2 die) and the letters (Naturally Serif Decorative Strip die).  The hearts along the bottom are from the Heart to Heart punch.



Cheers To You

Many of my favorite sets are retiring at the end of the month.  I will be sad to see them go.  Here are a few cards I made using Cheers to You.  Not only is the stamp set retiring, so it the matching wheel.  There are no cards using the wheel in today's post, but there are some posted elsewhere on my blog.

I made this card for my husband on our last anniversary.

I meant to post this one on March 17 and wish you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day.  Guess I forgot :)

St. Patrick's Day Card

This is one of the cards we will make in the Spring Class on Thursday.  There is still time to register -- either through the e-mail address in the header or by leaving a comment on this post.  We'll also be making a bendy card.  Have you seen those yet?  Very cool.  My next post will show you one.

This card uses Whisper White and Garden Green.  I used the heart to heart punch to make the four leaf clover.  The center is from Build a Blossom.  The phrases are from Teeny Tiny Wishes and Define Your Life (which is full of fun, useful definitions -- great for cards, scrapbooking, inspirational journals...you name it).

Viewmaster Card

This is my version of a viewmaster card.  It's different than most, but that's because I kind of made it up as I went.  I had seen a viewmaster card a long time ago and filed the idea away in my head.  When I tried making it, this is what I came up with.

You start out with the punched opening at the top.

As you spin the scallop around, the opening reveals different items that are loved.

The stamp set used is Things I Love -- big surprise there, huh :)  The hearts were punched using the heart to heart punch and a rhinestone brad holds the scallop to the card and allows it to spin.

Valentines using the I {Love} Love wheel

 I've got two Valentines for you today, both using the the I {Love} Love jumbo wheel.  Both are Whisper White and Real Red.

The first card also uses 1/4" grosgrain ribbon and Holiday Best, a hostess set from last year.  Holiday Best is great because it has a stamp for four different holidays.  And, I happen to have extra available for sale or as a choice when I offer the chance to win a free hostess set.  Keep your eyes peeled because I do that often.  Or, contact me and I'll sell you a set -- no waiting, no leaving it to chance.

The second card also uses a stamp from Love You Much (the three hearts, which are punched out using the heart to heart punch) and one from Valentine Defined.  I also used the Full Heart punch and

dry embossed it with polka dots (they don't show up too well here, but they look cute in person) from the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates.

The bottom of the wheel design isn't that curved in real life.  Guessing it has something to do with my photography :)  Kind of like why sometimes the layers look crooked in the photo when they are straight on the card.

Punch Flowers

This is one of the items we made at the May Stamp Club.  We also learned how to do the Embossed Reinker Spread technique and made a card using that technique.

The flowers on this card are made using the following Stampin Up punches:   five petal flower punch, the heart to heart punch and the trio flower punch.

Love Bug Card

Here's a card made with the cute hostess set, Love Bug.  It would make a great Valentine or Anniversary card -- either for your special someone or for a couple whose love you want to recognize.

The ladies in my stamp club made this card at our first meeting, when we made several cards using hostess sets.  That way they were ready to choose which set they wanted when their hostess month came.  Hard to believe our first session is almost over.  We have a spot open when we start up again in March.  Let me know if you'd like to join us or if you'd like more info.

Valentine Cards using Heart to Heart punch

Here are two cards that use the Heart to Heart punch. The top one uses the Love You Much stamp set and the bottom one uses Three Little Words (which you can get free during Sale-a-Bration with a qualifying order.) On the top card, I actually punched a border with the Heart to Heart punch. On the second card I'm thinking about adding a trio of hearts on the bottom right of the inside (like the ones on the front of the card). What do you think? Leave a comment with your thoughts.

Of course, you can add any sentiment you want on the inside. So, it can be a Valentine's Day card, or it can be a birthday card or anything else appropriate that you want (and you have the stamp for). Teeny Tiny Wishes is a great set for that reason. You get 24 different phrases to choose from.
