Birthday Stars and More Stars

This is the original star card I made. Last month, several of the club members bought It's My Party Designer Series Paper (DSP) when it popped up on the clearance list at a huge discount. I wanted to show them an idea using the DSP and this is what I came up with.

The DSP is sold out now, but check out the new catalog for some DSP you could use to make your own version of this card. The top layer is Crushed Curry cardstock. The sentiment is from Guy Greetings.

Here's a variation of yesterday's card using Dapper Denim cardstock as the top layer and Flirty Flamingo envelope paper underneath and for the strip. I chose not to sponge this card.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Don't forget to get retiring items before they are gone.

Americana Stars

This is another card from this month's club. It's CASEd from a different card I designed. Check back tomorrow to see that card and a couple variations of this card.

This card wasn't really intended to be a patriotic card, but once it was done, I realized it would be great for Memorial Day, which is right around the corner, or 4th of July. You could use it anytime of year, though, for a variety of occasions. I left this one blank, thinking it would make a nice note card.

Here's how I finished off the inside:

Supplies:

Ink (for sponging): Cherry Cobbler, Dapper Denim
Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper (DSP): 2016-18 In Color Envelope Paper (retiring, discounted)
Big Shot: Stars Framelits (retiring, discounted), Lucky Stars embossing folder (retiring)
Tools: Sponge Daubers

As I was photographing the card, I set it down the opposite way and decided I like it just as much portrait as I do landscape. Since it doesn't have any words inside or out, it can be used either way.

Going Global Lucky Stars

I love the Going Global suite of products. It's great for masculine cards, but doesn't have to be limited to projects for men. The Lucky Stars embossing folder made the cut for another year, but the Going Global stamp set and Going Places Designer Series Paper (DSP) are both retiring. Be sure to get yours before they're gone
I used Wink of Stella on a few random stars and on the constellation to add some sparkly shine. You can see it a little better in this close-up. The medallion was punched with a scallop circle punch, then rotated half a scallop and punched again.
Isn't the saying great? I thank my luck stars for you. That's how I feel about my customers who make it possible for me to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. Thank you!

Creating Pretty Cards – Sketch Challenge #57 Part 1

I decided to play along with this sketch challenge and got a little out of control. I'm going to share 3 of them in this post and 3 in a future post, so you can see lots of ways a sketch can evolve. You can head over to the CPC site and check out more ideas for CPC57.

This was actually the last one I made, but I think it's my favorite. It's much more vibrant in person. I wish I could have captured it in the picture.
I started with this card. It matches the sketch pretty closely. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the Pretty Petals DSP Stack. The punches are Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly.
Then I moved to this card using the Lucky Stars embossing folder and Stars framelits. The DSP is It's My Party and the Washi Tape is the SAB Glitter Washi.
And here's another view of this card. When it's open, you can see I used the framelit on the edge. I lined the inside w/some cardstock that shows through when the card is closed and some DSP that is the same as on the front of the card. DSP is Pretty Petals. Framelits are Botanical Builder.

And here's the sketch that started it all:

The Designer Series Paper is It's My Party DSP. The Melon Mambo card stock is embossed with the Lucky Stars embossing folder.

Here's a quick, cute card using the Confetti embossing folder and Perfect Pairings SAB stamp set. I used sponge daubers on the embossed image to add color.

TSSC 338 - Newborn King Gift Box

Here's my design team sample for this week's Techno Stamper Sketch Challenge. As soon as I saw this week's sketch, the square shape made me think of a gift box. This is the first time I tried out my new Gift Box Punch Board. I like it!

Supplies:

Stamps: The Newborn King
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Night of Navy, and Whisper White
Designer Series Paper (DSP): Neutrals Paper Stack (Retired)
Ink: StazOn Black, asst. Stampin' Write Markers for coloring
Big Shot: Lucky Stars Embossing Folder, Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Circles Framelits
Ribbon: Early Espresso Scalloped Tulle Ribbon (on Clearance Rack)
Tools: Gift Box Punch Board

Here's this week's sketch. As you can see, I moved my ribbon and bow so that the ribbon went around the box w/the bow (or in my case, more of a knot w/tails) on top.

You can link your project and see the rest of the design team samples at the Techno Stamper Sketch Challenge site. Hope you'll play along this week!
