Flag Card

I belong to a group called Late Night Stampers and every week they have a challenge.  I have finally decided to jump in and give it a try.  For this week's challenge, we were supposed to create something patriotic.  I had started this card a while ago, but it just didn't seem right.  I'm sure none of you have ever had that feeling.  lol  Anyhow, this challenge inspired me to finish the card.

The cardstock colors are:  Real Red, Night of Navy and Whisper White.  I used the So Many Stars Builder Wheel with Whisper White Craft Ink for the stars in the corner.

I decided on thinking of you for the sentiment.  That way the card can be sent by a loved one to someone serving our country away from home or it can be sent blank to a service person and he or she can send it home to his or her loved ones.

My church has made cards several times for the troops.  We originally were going to send them to From Our Hearts, but we ended up unofficially adopting our own group of military personnel to support.  We started by collecting other items they needed and ended up sending the cards as well.  They appreciated them so much that we did it again (and again).

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Since I've already been on my soapbox, let me add:  take time to thank our military personnel --  someone you know or a complete stranger; verbally, with a card or some other way.  Don't stress about the details (who, how, where).  Just do it.  They sacrifice a lot to serve our country and protect our freedom.  The least we can do is thank them for it.

Cards for the Troops a Big Success

Had a great night making cards to send to our military personnel.  We made over 200 cards to be sent overseas for our soldiers to use to send back home to their loved ones.  Here's one of the cards I designed, but it had a Ruby Red Background (like the flowers) instead of Not Quite Navy.

The top part is perfect to fit on one of the notecards sold by Stampin' Up.  Makes a quick, simple, nice card.

In real life, the card is not blurry.  I just couldn't seem to get it to photograph well.

Cards for the Troops

Come make cards to be sent overseas to our servicemen and women.  These will be cards that they can send back to their loved ones.  All cards will be prepped, just like in my classes.  Supplies are provided.  We just need people to help assemble the cards.

Wednesday, May 12 at 6:45pm.  St. Andrews UMC (1201 Maxwell Drive in Garner, NC)

Beginning at 5:40 there will be a fellowship supper, which you are invited to attend.  Donations will be collected to help our work team which is going to El Salvador to build houses through Habitat for Humanity.  The menu is ham, green beans, potatoes, etc.

You are invited to attend the supper, but you do not have to do so to help with cards.

Cards for the Troops

Don't forget about the card making event we will be having at St. Andrews UMC on Wednesday, 9/30, at 6:30pm. We will make cards to send to military personnel -- cards to thank them for their service and also cards to send to them that they can then send to their loved ones.
