TSSC 310 Golden Oldies

I needed to make a card for a 50th birthday party and I needed to do my design team sample for this week's Techno Stamper Sketch Challenge - and I didn't have time to make two cards. So, I used the TSSC sketch for the birthday card - and made it to the surprise party with time to spare.

Since it was a 50th, I wanted to make a humorous card, but really had no thoughts on what to do. So, I did what any stumped stamper would do - I searched the Internet. That wasn't a big help. Fortunately, I remembered the retired Stampin' Up! set, Golden Oldies. I pulled it out and started putting the card together. The sentiment is kind of hard to read due to the angle of the card, but it says, "My mind not only wanders - sometimes it gets lost completely."

I still have my old Blush Blossom marker, which I use for coloring people, but I decided not to color this guy. I was thinking he'd look pasty, like now that he's old, he never makes it out in the sun (I'm not that saying that older people don't make it out in the sun, of course, but for some people their outdoor time does decrease as they age). Since he's so white, I'm not sure I got the look I was going for. Oh well, it works.

Speaking of coloring stamped images, Stampin' Up! will be introducing a new set of alcohol based markers called Blendabilities. They will come in 12 Stampin' Up! colors, plus a clear blending marker, and a set of skin-toned colors ranging from ivory to mocha. There also will be an ink pad designed to work well with the markers. Each of the sets in SU colors will include three markers ranging from light, medium and dark in that color. That's pretty much all I know about it right now. I'll keep you updated as new information is announced.

Supply List:

Stamps: Golden Oldies (retired), Morning Post Numbers (retired)
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Night of Navy, Real Red, Sahara Sand
Big Shot: Starburst Framelits
Embellishments: Real Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (retired, but now it's available with white stitching down the center), Basic Rhinestones

Here's this week's sketch. You can link your entry and see the rest of the design team samples on the TSSC site.

Remember to check back tomorrow for the new set of Weekly Deals.

Have a great week!

Butterfly Card

We had a great time this morning at the Stampin' Up! fundraiser I put on for Relay For Life! Special thanks to my friend Karen Kline, who helped with the event.  And thanks to my friend Karen O'Connell, who supplied half the participants. The group was varied in both age and skill level. The teenagers really got into being creative and it was fun to see where that creativity led them. I wish I would have thought to take pictures!

This clean and simple (aka CAS), one layer card was the easiest of the four projects we made. Since the sentiment came from Teeny Tiny Wishes, the participants could choose whichever message they wanted.

We used the Simply Scored tool to make the decorative lines. Then we used the Butterfly Punch to punch butterflies from retired In Color Patterns Pack Designer Series Paper (DSP) and lined them up between the lines.

We used the Note cards and envelopes set for this card, so it is 3.5" x 5". The card is CASEd, but I can't remember where I saw it.

I'll post more of the projects next week, so be sure to check back. And thank, again, to everyone who participated in the Relay For Life fundraiser.

Easter Card - Blessed Easter With Fringed Grass

Reminder: Relay For Life fundraiser is tomorrow! Details here. Hope you can come! For planning purposes, if you're planning to be there, could you let me know? Thanks!

This is such a pretty stamp for Spring cards. Of course, it's great for Easter cards like this one, but it can also be used without the sentiment to make it more versatile.

I love the Fringe Scissors in the Occasions Mini Catalog! If you don't have them - get them! Seriously! Love them! (Getting the idea yet?)

Supplies:

Stamps: Blessed Easter

Ink: Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Early Espresso

Card stock: Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Whisper White

Accessories: Fringe Scissors
Big Shot: Square Lattice Embossing Folder

I entered this card in SU Only Challenges. The theme is Easter this week.

Mixed Blessings Rolo Treat

We made this cute little treat in stamp club. It's made with the Mixed Blessings stamp set and the Blossom punch from Stampin' Up! The flower center is a Rolo.

Here are a couple different views.

The bottom picture shows how we finished the back. The sentiment is from Blessed Easter. You could easily change the sentiment to give these for any Spring or Summer occasion.

TSSC 307 Flower Sympathy Card

Here's my design team sample for this week's Techno Stamper Sketch Challenge. I have to confess that I've become spoiled. I love having a punch or framelit to cut out my images. Having the matching punches made this card a breeze.

Here's the sketch:

Card Details:

Stamps: Blessings From Heaven, Flower Shop, Petite Petals,

Cardstock: Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Very Vanilla

Ink: Calypso Coral

Punches: Pansy, Petite Petals

This is a sympathy card with another stamp from Blessings From Heaven on the inside. That one says: May your memories bring you peace.  Under that stamp I added a sympathy stamp. The one I used is retired, but the Stampin' Up! set, Love and Sympathy, has a pretty one that simply says, "Sending Love and Sympathy."

Now it's time to head to the TSSC site so you can see the other design team samples and link your entry. Hope you'll play along this week!

Time's Running Out - Best of Flowers

Today's cards feature the Stampin' Up! set, Best of Flowers. Best of... sets are only available until 3/31/14, so be sure to order any you want. Each set is $14.95. Collect the 25 sticker from 6 sets and get a free stamp set ($14.95 or less). Buy 4 sets (or any other $50 or more purchase) and get the Distressed Dots embossing folder, which was used on the top card, for free (SAB selection, ends 3/31).

The "above & beyond..." stamp is from One in a Million. On the inside is the coordinating stamp from that set, "...that's where you always seem to go!" I like how each stamp in this set is paired with another coordinating phrase.

This second card is a 3 x 3 notecard. Yes, Stampin' Up! sells envelopes to fit.

Here are all 12 sets, one for each month of Stampin' Up's 25th anniversary year. Get yours before they're gone!
