Facebook Timeline Covers - My Digital Studio (Tutorial)

The more I play with My Digital Studio (MDS), the more I love it! It's so versatile. Of course, photo books and cards. But other things, too. Recently I started making facebook timeline covers. So easy! And fun to have my own custom design!

If you want to see how it looks on my facebook page, click here.

Here are two of the three I've made so far:

This St. Patrick's Day one is currently on my facebook page:

This one was for Valentine's Day (obviously):

The first one I made was for Martin Luther King Day. That one used images and quotes I found on the web. I like that about MDS. I can use the awesome digital content that comes with the program or that I've bought. Or, I can import other images to use with MDS content and features.

If you don't already have My Digital Studio, you can download a FREE 30 day trial here. Please choose me (Sue Root, Raleigh, NC) as your demo. Thanks!

Want to make your own facebook timeline cover?

1) Open MDS
2) On New Project Options page, select Custom Project (3rd choice down on right side)
3) At the top, under Create a Custom Size, make the size 851 pixels wide and 315 pixels tall
4) Click on Create Project.
5) Name your project. You can also choose your project location if you don't want to use the default location.
6) Design your project. (This is the fun part!)
7) Choose Project from the menu bar along the top.
8) Choose Share, then Export Pages.
9) Save the project (pop up box), then make any other changes to the options that you want. Image type should be JPEG. Select Finish.
9) Once you get the message that it's finished, click OK and quit program.

Your facebook timeline cover is done.

Hope you find this tutorial helpful. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'd love to see the MDS timeline you make. Leave me a link in the comments so I can see it.

Thanks so much for the directions--this is like working in Greek to me. Thx for the help.
Have you used MDS to apply the copyright statement to cards, etc before putting them out on the internet? I thought this was possible--do you know how to do it?

Sandi,

Happy to be able to help. Glad you found these instructions. Yes, I have used MDS to add the copyright statement. I just created a text box and typed the info in there. Then I reduced the opacity so it's more like a watermark. I haven't figured out how to make the copyright symbol in MDS so I usually just copy and paste it from elsewhere (usually Word).

To make it easier I have a MDS project that I leave the copyright text box in and just replace the picture. Send the picture to the back so the watermark is on top. When I save it as a jpg, I re-size it so I'm not uploading huge files to post. Hope that makes sense. If not, please ask.
