You're Lovely Bookmark Card

BLOG CANDY:  Win Reason to Smile by interacting on my social media.  See details here.  No limit to the number of entries!

Stamp Club met Tuesday night and Wednesday morning this week.  As always, we had a great time!  If you are in the Garner/Southern Wake County area of North Carolina, you should join us for a class sometime.  We'd love to meet you!

When we made bookmarks at my recent Open House, one of the stampers asked if we could make a card with a removable bookmark.  This is what I designed.  It was the first of three projects we made.

Shown below is the bookmark.  In class I recommended to stamp lightly so that the Primrose Petals was not quite as dark as on my bookmark.  That way more of the flower stamp showed.

Supplies:

Stamps:  Happy Watercolor, You're Lovely (FREE during Sale-a-Bration)
Cardstock:  Primrose Petals, Midnights Muse, Gumball Green, Whisper White
Ink: Primrose Petals, Gumball Green
Big Shot:  Deco Labels Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (FREE during SAB)
Other:  Scallop Tag Topper Punch, Primrose Petals 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon (on Weekly Deals list through 3/3), Corner Rounder Punch

I picked these colors for the class projects because many of the stampers took advantage of the My Paper Pumpkin (MPP) Promotion and got this In Color set of markers for FREE.  The MPP promotion ends March 31, 2014.  When you sign up, please select me (Sue Root, Raleigh, NC) as your demonstrator.  Thank you!

Love the Possibilities

Scrap your Valentine's memories!  This is a post from MyDigitalStudio.net.  I thought you'd enjoy it because it's such a cute page.  I also want to let you know about this great resource if you aren't familiar with it.  MyDigitalStudio.net is full of great information for using the digital crafting program, My Digital Studio.

Love the Possibilities

Using fresh, new downloads keeps creating exciting—plus, it keeps my projects up-to-date with the most current trends! However, the newest downloads don't always lend themselves to the pictures I currently have to scrap or the hybrid projects I'm working on. But wait, maybe they DO . . . using the recoloring tools I can use any download, on any project and I'm not bound to the color theme! Whoo Hoo!

Today I'm in LOVE with the possibilities of the Love is All Around Kit and This and That Retro Fresh Embellishments combined together with the wonderful recolor tool! I've created a card and a layout to share with you, from just these two downloads.

I'll be honest; I'm a terrible scrapbooker (if there is such a thing LOL). Because I started way after my children were born, I'll never able to catch up and scrap their lives from birth to high school. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat, right? I decided long ago not to beat myself up about it. So I create pages around memories in no particular order.

This page is a memory I want my daughter to remember forever. It screams of her HARD work and determination! This team didn't win every competition, but they did rise from a level two to a level four team, in just eight short months. The title of the page says just that, "Allatoona Jr Bucs, now with MORE awesome!" These are the kind of reasons I scrap. So, I hope if any of you are in my boat, you'll start small but you'll START and never feel bad about where you are on the journey!

This card uses the Love is All Around Kit exclusively.

New downloads are the perfect way to create a "last minute" card when you've run out of time to order new paper and stamps. Just design, print, and assemble.

Or you can design projects with downloads before you start cutting up all the pretty paper you hoard . . . you know you do it, too!

I just Love all the possibilities new downloads offer.

Just Sayin' Birthday Card

This card has a few of my current favorites on it:  Just Sayin', Word Bubbles Framelits, and Simply Pressed Clay.  The Word Bubbles are so fun!  I'm just buzzing with ideas for them - and not all include the coordinating Just Sayin' stamp set.

Here's a close-up of the button made with Simply Pressed Clay.  I love that I can now make buttons in any color I want!  It was finished off with Gold Baker's Twine.  Is the picture clear enough to see the gold thread running through it?

I think this design from Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper (DSP) is perfect for this stamp.  So is the one with all the candles.

The pretty, bright ribbon is Raspberry Ripple 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon.  This ribbon comes in all of the 2012-14 In Colors.  Be sure to stock up before they are gone!

These items can be ordered online (please use hostess code HEANKVVG to get a free gift with an order of $20 or more) or contact me if you'd like to be part of a group order.  Thank you!

TSSC 302 - Floral Frames

BLOG CANDY:  Win Reason to Smile by interacting on my social media.  See details here.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled post...

Here is this week's Techno Stamper Sketch Challenge sample:

I used some of the items that are on the Weekly Deals list.  If you want any of these items at 25% off, act fast because this is the last day of the sale.  If you order online, please use hostess code:  HEANKVVG  Or, let me know by 8:00pm tonight if you want to take part in a group order.

Other items I used on this card:
Cardstock:  Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper (DSP): Epic Day
Big Shot for all those sale items
Here's a side view of the flower.  See the depth?
And here's a close-up view from a different angle.  See the texture?
Wonder how I got that depth and texture?  I used my Simply Scored Stylus (you can also get it with the Simply Scored Board) and Stampin' Pierce Mat
First, use your Paper Snips to cut between the petals on the Daffodil Delight layers so they are separated, but still attached at the center.  Press down with your stylus along the middle of each petal and then work out to the edges. The petals will start to curl up a little.  You can vary how much the petals curl by how hard you press and how many times.  I also did the centers of each layer.  Make sure to poke in a random manner so you don't end up with straight lines.
Here is this week's TSSC sketch that I used for inspiration.  This card is portrait, but I changed mine to a landscape orientation.  I felt that worked better with my design.
You can see the rest of the design team samples at the TSSC website.  Then link your entry at the bottom of the TSSC post.

Daydream Medallions and Blessings From Heaven

I used several of the Weekly Deals on this card.  Can you spot them?

Here are the items on this card that are 25% off through tomorrow, Monday, 12/17:

Whisper White 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon Item #126877 (sort of - this is the old style, 1/4" grosgrain; the new ribbon is stitched)
Other items I used on this card:

Cardstock:  Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Ink:  Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral
Stamps:  Daydream Medallions, Blessings from Heaven
Big Shot for all those sale items

Here's a side view of the card:

The Wisteria Wonder strip (which was die cut with the Tasteful Trims die) is actually on the inside.  It only shows because the front is cut shorter than the back.

I made this card for the Late Night Stampers Challenge, which is dry or wet embossing.  You can see all of the entries here.  You can also link your own project.

You can see the whole list of Weekly Deals here.  If you decide to Order Online, the hostess code is:  HEANKVVG

Blog Candy!

LAST DAY TO ENTER: 3/15/14.  No limit to the number of entries!

This scrapbook page was made by one of the designers at Stampin' Up!  Details below on how you can win the set used to make this page.

I hit 5 years with Stampin' Up! this month.  Where does the time go?  I love being a demo.  I get to share my love of stamping and make money at the same time!  And, the very best part is all the new friends I've made!!!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this first 5 years.  I wouldn't still be doing this without you.  So, I want to give something back - some blog candy!

Win the retired, two-step stampin' set Reason to Smile!  This set was only available for one month, so I know many of you missed it.  If you were one of the lucky ones who got it, you can choose an alternate set if you win.

Because I have followers in different places, there are several ways to get entries:

Follow Me (3 entries):   on this blog (click the Join this site button along the left hand side), on my Facebook page, or on Twitter

Share (2 entries):  a facebook post, pin something from my blog*, re-tweet

Interact (1 entry):  Like and/or comment on a Facebook post, leave a comment on this blog, favorite a tweet

I am not putting a limit on the number of entries per day, but I do ask you not to be spammy.  In other words, don't go to my Facebook page and share every single post since I started.  I'm kidding, of course. :)  I know none of you would do that.
Because I appreciate those of you who chose to follow me without the incentive of a prize, everyone who is on the list of followers (at all three sites) at the end of the contest period will get three entries.

*All entries will be collected as reported by the respective site.  Exception:   when you pin from my blog, I do not get a notice, so please let me know.  Just send a quick e-mail with your name and the link to your Pinterest page.  Remember to be on the specific blog post page, not my Home page before pinning.

Good luck!

I also have a Pinterest account, which you may find interesting.  But since that's harder for me to track, I'm not including it in this contest.

I'm happy to be able to provide you inspiration in so many formats.  I hope you find the one(s) that are right for you.  Feel free to follow me on all my social media sites as I sometimes have things exclusive to each site.

Hearts A Flutter Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day!

"All you need is love, love. Love is all you need." - The Beatles
(In honor of the recent 50th anniversary of their 1st appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.  Love me some Beatles!  Who's with me?)

This Valentine uses the Hearts A Flutter stamp set and coordinating framelits.  The pretty edge along the bottom is made with the Finishing Touch Edgelits.

The stamp is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  It was punched out with the Word Window punch.

Colors:  Real Red, Whisper White, Primrose Petals, and Pool Party

Just Sayin' - Hey There

We've been getting a lot of snow here in North Carolina (at least for here - it's nothing compared to my home state of Michigan).  I love the snow when it's coming down and when it's fresh on the ground.  But now that it's melting and gray, I'm ready for a little brightness.

This card uses the Just Saying stamp set, Word Bubble framelits, and Gingham Garden Washi Tape.  The stamps and framelits are available in a bundle with a 15% savings over buying them separately.

For more great ideas using these cool framelits, check out this post on the Stampin' Up! blog.  You'll see how they made all the different ideas in the following picture a reality.

TSSC 301 - One in a Million

Here is this week's Techno Stamper Sketch Challenge sample:

Stamps:  One in a Million
Cardstock:  Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper (DSP):  Sweet Sorbet (Sale-a-Bration item)
Ink:  Baked Brown Sugar
Ribbon:  Baked Brown Sugar 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim
Big Shot:  Houndstooth Embossing Folder

One in a Million is a cool set, because the stamps are in pairs.  So, the front of the card says, "You mean SO much to SO many people."  The stamp that goes with it says, "{One of them is me.}"

I put the other stamp on the inside of the card.  When I get ready to send it, I'll add a sentiment that matches the occasion.

Here is this week's TSSC sketch:
Head on over to the TSSC website to see the rest of the design team samples.  Then use the sketch to inspire your creation and link it at the bottom of the TSSC post.

Don't forget - TODAY IS THE LAST DAY for the My Paper Pumpkin Promotion.  Sign up here and remember to choose me, Sue Root, Raleigh, NC as your demonstrator.  You'll get a free thank you gift from me, plus be able to come to the Paper Pumpkin Party where we'll assemble our kits and make a bonus card.

Delicate Doilies and Simply Pressed Clay - A Winning Combo

Delicate Doilies Sizzlit and Simply Pressed Clay are both on the Weekly Deals list this week, so I made a couple of cards showcasing both products.

Here is a close-up of the button.  I colored it with my Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker.  I love that you can make the Simply Pressed Clay items any color you want.
Supplies:
Cardstock:  Island Indigo, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight
Stampin' Write Marker:  Daffodil Delight
Accessories:  Gingham Garden Washi Tape, Simply Pressed Clay (with Buttons and Blossoms Mold), 7/8" Scallop Punch, White Baker's Twine
Big Shot:  Delicate Doilies Sizzlit
Here's the other card I made:
Here's a close-up of the flower, which I colored with my Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Marker.  I love the details in the flower.  This is the largest of the three that come in the mold.
 Supplies:

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock:  Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry
Classic Ink:  Melon Mambo
Stampin' Write Marker:  Crushed Curry
Accessories:  Simply Pressed Clay (with Buttons and Blossoms Mold), Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Crushed Curry Polka Dot Ribbon (retired)
Big Shot:  Delicate Doilies Sizzlit, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder

I hope you've gotten an idea why I love these products so much.  A few other cool facts about the Simply Pressed Clay:

* There are lots of ways to color the clay items.  You get a different look with different methods.
* You don't just have to use them in the molds, although the molds are my favorite (so far).
* They are very light.

You can see another card I made using the Simply Pressed Clay that demonstrate the first two points.

You can these and any of the Weekly Deals by Ordering Online.  Please use hostess code: HEANKVVG*.  Remember, to get the sale price you must order by Monday, Feb. 10 (which is also when the My Paper Pumpkin Promotion ends).

*By using the hostess code you become eligible to share hostess benefits if the group order gets large enough.  I will contact you with your amount after the order closes.  It's my way of saying thanks for choosing me as your demonstrator.  If your order is over $150, don't use the hostess code.  Instead, collect your free hostess gifts right away.

I also entered the top card in the Late Night Stampers Challenge.
