Starfish Birthday Card

Happy Memorial Day! Of course, we think of beach trips when we think of Memorial Day, so I am posting a beach card today.  But before we get to the card, I want to take a minute for the real reason we have this holiday. Thank you to the brave men and women who have given their lives in service to our country and to the families who lost loved ones way too soon. Your sacrifice is not forgotten and is appreciated.

This birthday card features the starfish from the retiring stamp set, Picture Perfect. Remember, you only have through May 31 (or until it sells out) to get it. The sentiment is from Guy Greetings. The background is sponged with some additional spots on the sand added with a stamp from Timeless Textures.

Camping Adventure

I have two similar cards for you today, both using Always An Adventure (retiring). They are both Clean and Simple (CAS) cards, but the first one is moreso. The sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners. On the tent, I just colored the white parts with my Basic Black Stampin' Write marker.

This second card is stepped up a bit - not much, but a little. I added clouds and a few more trees. I made different color and different style trees. I also used the coordinating Outdoor Adventure framelits (retiring) to cut a tree and layer it over some others.

The Always an Adventure stamp set and  Outdoor Adventure framelits are also available as a bundle for 10% savings when you buy them both. These items are all retiring when the catalog retires.
Thoughtful Banners is not retiring, but through the end of the catalog period it is available as part a bundle with a coordinating punch. The stamps and the punch are both available in the new annual catalog. They just will no longer be available as a bundle.

Birthday Stars and More Stars

This is the original star card I made. Last month, several of the club members bought It's My Party Designer Series Paper (DSP) when it popped up on the clearance list at a huge discount. I wanted to show them an idea using the DSP and this is what I came up with.

The DSP is sold out now, but check out the new catalog for some DSP you could use to make your own version of this card. The top layer is Crushed Curry cardstock. The sentiment is from Guy Greetings.

Here's a variation of yesterday's card using Dapper Denim cardstock as the top layer and Flirty Flamingo envelope paper underneath and for the strip. I chose not to sponge this card.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Don't forget to get retiring items before they are gone.

Americana Stars

This is another card from this month's club. It's CASEd from a different card I designed. Check back tomorrow to see that card and a couple variations of this card.

This card wasn't really intended to be a patriotic card, but once it was done, I realized it would be great for Memorial Day, which is right around the corner, or 4th of July. You could use it anytime of year, though, for a variety of occasions. I left this one blank, thinking it would make a nice note card.

Here's how I finished off the inside:
Ink (for sponging): Cherry Cobbler, Dapper Denim
Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper (DSP): 2016-18 In Color Envelope Paper (retiring, discounted)
Big Shot: Stars Framelits (retiring, discounted), Lucky Stars embossing folder (retiring)
Tools: Sponge Daubers

As I was photographing the card, I set it down the opposite way and decided I like it just as much portrait as I do landscape. Since it doesn't have any words inside or out, it can be used either way.

Sparkly Dragonfly Dreams

Here's one of the cards from this month's club. We had a great time making our cards yesterday and I look forward to doing them again Tuesday night.

The die cut dragonflies were made with my Big Shot and the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits. The sentiment is from Guy Greetings. See how nice and crisp the font is?

I love the bling on this card. The sparkle on the dragonflies was applied with a sponge dauber and Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details (retiring, discounted). We added the gold sparkle by daubing Gold Glitz Dazzling Details (retiring, discounted) on the dots stamp from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and then stamping it on the background layer. I love Dazzling Details and am sad to see these items retire. I'm stocking up before they're gone. You might want to, too.

The rhinestones are from Basic Rhinestones. Although the current configuration retired and are sold out, there will be new packs of rhinestones available in the new annual catalog. The silver 1/8" ribbon will also be in the new catalog.

Dragonfly Dreams stamps and Detailed Dragonfly thinlits are available as a bundle (10% savings when you buy both) until May 31. After that, both items will still be available, but no longer as a bundle.

Check back tomorrow to see another of this month's club cards.

Happy Mother's Day!

Today I have two similar Mother's Day cards. If you are really behind, you can use one of these ideas for your Mother's Day card. Or, you can change the sentiment in the oval and use them for just about any occasion. The sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners which has 53 stamps, over 40 of which are words or phrases that can be mixed and matched to make the sentiment you want.

The fancy die cut on the front of both cards is done with the Big Shot and Detailed Floral Thinlts. These dies are available as a bundle with a coordinating stamp set through May 31. The ovals are cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

The background on the front oval and inside the card is done with a stamp from Flourishing Phrases. The sentiment is also from Flourishing Phrases. The stamps are kind of hard to see in the photo, but can easily be read in person. The top one says, "I think it more often than I say it, but I just want to make sure you know it" and underneath, "I love you."

Here's the second card. For this one, I cut the die cut at the edge of the card and as you can see in the next picture, put a a strip of Night of Navy on the inside of the card so it shows through the die cut. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) on the front panel is Floral Boutique. Sadly, it was on the retiring list and has sold out. That's why you don't want to delay getting your retiring items. You could use the Flourishing Phrases stamp from above to fill in the panel.

The inside of this card has the same sentiment as the other card, which I love for Mother's Day. Flourishing Phrases is full of great sentiments and phrases and I really like the font. Check the set out below.

See what I mean about it being a great set? It's also available with coordinating thinlits as a bundle through May 31.

Botanical Blooms Frame

I actually made the insert for this frame during the last catalog pre-order period. I remember because I used my brand new Layering Love stamp set, which fortunately is not retiring, and the Go Wild paper stack, which was retiring at that time. Even though Go Wild is long gone, you could use another DSP as the base layer. Playful Palette has some patterns that would work. If you don't want to substitute, let me know and I can hook you up with a Go Wild paper stack.

Stamps: Layering Love
Ink: Tempting Turquoise
Cardstock: Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Wild Wasabi
Designer Series Paper (DSP):  Go Wild Paper Stack (retired, but let me know and I can sell you one or try another DSP such as Playful Palette, which is retiring)
Big Shot: Botanical Builder Framelits (retiring, discounted)
Tools: Simply Scored (to make the diamonds on the Tempting Turquoise card stock)
Embellishments: Basic Rhinestones, Basic Pearls

Bunch of Blossoms Card

Get ready for a blitz of p0sts using retiring items. The end of the catalog period will soon be here and I have several projects I want to share with you. There are so many great products you'll want to get before they're gone.

We made this card in a Stamp-a-Stack a few months ago.
It was CASEd from a card I saw on Pinterest by Sharon Hashimoto Burkert. I really like the way the Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum go together.

Stamps: Bunch of Blossoms (retiring)
Ink:  Early Espresso, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum
Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper:  Patterns Paper Stack – 2016-18 In Colors (retiring)
Punch: Blossom Builder (retiring)

The stamps and punch are available in a bundle so you can save 10% if you buy them together.
Check back tomorrow for another post using retiring items.
