Why would I want that? 12 x 12 card stock

I use 12 x 12 cardstock for scrapbooking.  What else would I use for my 12 x 12 album?  But until recently, that was pretty much all I used my 12 x 12 cardstock for.  Oh!  And as a backup for when I ran out of 8 1/2 x 11.  But you know what?  12 x 12 is great to have on hand for several reasons:

*  If you put layers on your cards, you know how many little 1/2" strips you end up with.  But, if you use a 12 x 12 sheet, you can get 6 pieces of 4 x 5 1/4.  The bonus:  your leftover piece is 1 1/2" x 12.  A very useful size!

*  You use 12 x 12 sheets to make the following cards:  trifold shutter, matchbook card, pocket card and more

*  Make a 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 nine page mini accordion album

*  You get four 6 x 6 scrapbook pages for your 6 x 6 album.

*  Get two 6 x 6 cards.

*  Get eight (yes, EIGHT) 3 x 3 cards or self-sealing cards like we made at the preschool fundraiser class.

I'm sure there are more ideas, but these will get you started.

So, next time you're stocking up on cardstock, keep the 12 x 12 in mind.

St. Patrick's Day Card using Define Your Life

In case you're wondering, the circles are punched from one of the Very Thankful stamps.  Itty Bitty Backgrounds was used to add some visual depth to the shamrock.

For those of you who haven't heard the term, CASE means Copy and Share Everything, which fits right in with the Stampin' Up Statement of the Heart.

Easter Suspension Card

This was the second card I did at Stamp Camp yesterday.  If you were there, you know how much fun we had and made lots of great projects.  If not, you won't want to miss the next one on Saturday, March 20th.

At stamp camp, I actually had another element on the card -- Happy Easter punched with the word window and layered on Bashful Blue cardstock punched with the modern label punch.  It was just above the flowers.  I don't have a picture of it right now.  If I get one, I'll replace this picture.  For now, enjoy it this way.

This is a suspension card.  The bunny in the center of the 1 1/4" punched hole will actually spin around (with help).  I used the Stampin' Up set Eggcoutrements, Certainly Celery satin ribbon and several punches.

Easter Stamp Camp Card

Valentines

Wow!  I can't believe it's been so long since I posted.  I've been busy with life, which has a way of happening.

I thought I'd share the treats I made for my family.  I made them all cards, plus I made the girls treat bags and made my husband a Valentine box filled with what else -- kisses.  Both girls' bags had the same amount of candy to start with, but I forgot to take pictures before they were given and you can't expect kids to keep out of candy just so Mom can get a photo :)

We made a similar treat bag in the Preschool Fundraiser class I held recently.  The bag was the small size and the Top Note was turned the other way -- so it was narrower and taller.  I didn't get a picture of that either before I gave it away.  Guess I have to work on that.

All supplies are Stampin' Up except the initials on the bags (but I do have the Stampin' Up alphabets and use those, too -- this alphabet just seemed a little more "teenager-ish").

Stampin' Up Chocolate Bunny card

This card (or a slightly tweaked version) is one of the cards we'll make at the March 4 class.  Contact me today to register.  The chocolate bunny looks so cool when embossed.  Sorry about the poor photography.  I tried photographing the card in three different places and this is the best I could get.  The colors are much richer in person.  The embossing isn't a whole lot better, though.  I tried to use classic ink, even though I knew better and that's why only half of it's embossed :)  I've ordered Craft ink for the class so your bunnies will all look shiny and chocolately and yummy.

Butterfly Hinge Card

Here's how I finished off the butterfly hinge card.  You can see the original a few posts back.  Funny thing, my club ended up split on how they wanted to make their card.  Half did it the original way (the bottom had a tone on tone background stamped with Sprinkles); the other half did it like this with the Sweet Pea DSP.

You can see on the right how the card opens.  I still haven't put the message inside, but I think the one on the card below is perfect.  It's from Hope Happens, which is full of great sayings.

This is a quick card made using the Beautiful Butterflies die and sponged around the edges.  The butterfly body is made by tying hemp twine around it.  Like I said, I love the saying.

I can't seem to keep away from the butterflies -- maybe I'm ready for spring.  And here we just got a bunch of snow! 

Hinge Card and Eyelet Border Punch Flower

Hi friends.  Today I have two fun projects for you.  The first card has a flower made with the eyelet border punch.  It's easy to do, but does take some practice.  I know it's a little early for Easter Cards, but I really wanted to show you this flower.  Want to know how to make it?  Come next Thursday to find out.  Details are at the bottom of the post.

The next card is a hinge card.  Don't you love the way it opens?  I need to stamp the sentiment inside, but I'm still looking for the perfect one.  Any suggestions?  If so, leave a comment.  I'd love to know what you think.  We will also make this card next Thursday, though I'm still "tweaking" it.

It's hard to tell in the picture, but I used the Sprinkles set to stamp a light background on the top (butterflies) and the bottom (flowers).  It shows up just right in person.  I just couldn't capture it in the picture.

The bottom two butterflies are from the Bigz butterfly die and the small one on top is from the new embosslit.  Isn't is great how they go together?  I'll be posting more butterfly cards in the near future, so be sure to check back soon.

All the butterflies on this card made me happy, so I used the set Happy Everything set on it.  I've only added happy so far, but the great thing about this set is that when I'm ready to give the card I can customize it.  There are several words to pair with happy -- birthday, days and everything to name a few.  And, if the seven words included in the set aren't enough, you can add words from other sets.  Plus, I just love the font.

Love Bug Card

Here's a card made with the cute hostess set, Love Bug.  It would make a great Valentine or Anniversary card -- either for your special someone or for a couple whose love you want to recognize.

The ladies in my stamp club made this card at our first meeting, when we made several cards using hostess sets.  That way they were ready to choose which set they wanted when their hostess month came.  Hard to believe our first session is almost over.  We have a spot open when we start up again in March.  Let me know if you'd like to join us or if you'd like more info.

Valentine Cards using Heart to Heart punch

Here are two cards that use the Heart to Heart punch. The top one uses the Love You Much stamp set and the bottom one uses Three Little Words (which you can get free during Sale-a-Bration with a qualifying order.) On the top card, I actually punched a border with the Heart to Heart punch. On the second card I'm thinking about adding a trio of hearts on the bottom right of the inside (like the ones on the front of the card). What do you think? Leave a comment with your thoughts.

Of course, you can add any sentiment you want on the inside. So, it can be a Valentine's Day card, or it can be a birthday card or anything else appropriate that you want (and you have the stamp for). Teeny Tiny Wishes is a great set for that reason. You get 24 different phrases to choose from.

It's hard to see, but the white background is embossed with a flowered texture plate. Sorry about the poor picture quality (all of the photos, but especially this one). It's much more crisp in real life (you can kind of see it in the top picture). Do you know what stamp set I used on this?

This is another option for decorating your box. I'll have another by the time class rolls around. That way, you can tailor the box to your needs. You can't see it in the picture at the top of the post, but there are hearts stamped all over the Valentine box. I used VersaMark for a tone on tone effect.

Circle Circus Cards

The Melon Mambo card that says Thanks... on the front uses the rest of the stamp on the inside:  not just for the BIG things you do, but all the wonderful little things too!

Trifold Shutter Cards

Here are a couple of trifold shutter cards I've done recently.

The first card uses the Vintage Vogue stamp set from the new Occasions Mini Catalog. This catalog has tons of great, new stuff in it! Most of the new sets are now available as clear mount sets (or as wood mount). The stamps are still the high quality rubber with foam backing that you are used to with Stampin' Up stamps. Instead of being mounted on wood, these stamps come unmounted. When you are ready to use one, stick the stamp on an acrylic block and stamp away. When you are done, remove the stamp from the block and return it to its case.

The acrylic blocks SU sells are as thick as the wood blocks, with rounded corners and grooves in the sides for easier handling. The new clear mounts are easy to use and give the same great results you are used to with the wood mount stamps.

In addition, the new clear mounts are cheaper and take up way less space. Each set comes in a case about the size of a DVD case. You can tell I love them. I was just going to upload a couple of cards and ended up writing three paragraphs about the new clear mounts.
