Stampin' Up Preschool Fundraiser

We had a great turnout and lots of fun at the Easter Fun class yesterday.  It was a fundraiser for the SAUMC preschool.  Thanks to everyone who participated.

I took my camera to take pictures so you could share in the fun, but I got so busy making the projects that I forgot to get the camera out.  Maybe next time.  Or better yet, be there yourself so you can see the fun first hand!

Birthday Cards

Here are a couple of birthday cards that I made a while ago, but haven't shared yet.  We made the cupcake card in stamp club one month.

The flower card uses the Simple Flower Embosslit, Little Leaves Sizzlit and large polka dot texturz plate (Backgrounds 1).  I do love my Big Shot!  It also uses three punches:  the small oval, large oval and scallop oval.

This card is made with the Out of the Box hostess set.  The polka dots on the ribbon were made using Itty Bitty Backgrounds.  Talk about a useful set to have.  The happy birthday on both cards came from Teeny Tiny Wishes, an extremely versatile set.  I use it so often that I don't even include it in the blog labels most of the time.  I often use Teeny Tiny Wishes with the Word Window and Modern Label punches, like I did in this card.

Thanks for looking!  Sue Root, Independent Stampin' Up Demonstrator

Easter Fun Class (SAUMC Preschool Fundraiser)

Here are the projects we will be making at the Easter Fun Class on Wednesday, March 24.  You can come at either 9:30am or 6:30pm.  This class has 3 cute projects that adults will enjoy making, but would also be good for kids.  All kids must be accompanied by an adult.  Half of the registration fee will be donated to the preschool at St. Andrews UMC, which is a wonderful program that has won awards and has a fantastic staff.

There are two cards and a carrot cone.  The cone can be given as is, kind of like a 3-d card or you can add treats for that special someone.

While I love designing my own projects, sometimes there's no sense re-inventing the wheel.  I got the ideas for all three of these cards from other talented Stampin' Up demonstrators.  In fact, if you become a demonstrator, you'd have access to thousands of ideas that are only available to demonstrators.  Plus you'd get a discount on all of your Stampin' Up purchases and earn money on any you sell.  As if that's not good enough, the starter kit is 15% off through the end of March, plus comes with a free stamp set (up to a $47.95 value).  I'd be happy to tell you all about it.

The chick card was copied, but modified from one done by Mary Jo Price Williams.  The carrot cone is nearly an exact copy and the punch bunny card is modified from a scrapbook page.

Flower Frenzy Stamp Camp Part 2

Before I get to the projects, I want to take a minute to let you know that the world lost a very special woman last night.  Barbara Holbrook was gracious and kind.  She was my Bunko buddy and a sister in Christ.  She will be missed by all who knew her and it just seemed appropriate to take a minute to remember her.

I promised yesterday that I'd post the rest of the stamp camp projects, so here they are.  The picture isn't the greatest (and even one of the cards wasn't attached and ended up sliding), but it's here as promised.  We'll make all eight of these projects (the 5 today and 3 from yesterday) Saturday afternoon.  You can still register through tomorrow.

I've seen the punch rose and scrunchy flower lots of places, but the ideas originally came to me via Chera Wiest (rose) and Ilina Crouse (scrunchy flower).   The others are my own creations.  I love using the five petal flower punch for different types of flowers and for leaves.  It's a much more versatile punch than it seems at first.

Flower Frenzy Stamp Camp

Here are three of the projects we'll make at Saturday's stamp camp.  Two of the cards are my own creations, but I CASED the flower pot card.  I actually used ideas from two different cards, created by two different Stampin' Up demonstrators:  Lisa Trombitas and Stephanie Luman.

Check back tomorrow.  I'll be posting more pictures from the upcoming stamp camp.

There's still time to register.  E-mail, call or leave if a comment if you'd like to register to come Saturday (March 20) or would like more information.

Thanks.  Sue Root

Very Thankful Boy

Here's another card using the cute Stampin' Up set Very Thankful .  There really is an even amount of white on the back layer.  It just got cropped.

Very Thankful Peacock

Here's another card using the Very Thankful set.  You can get this set for free during Sale-a-bration.  Also, for each set purchased, Stampin' Up will donate $2 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  This includes sets you earn for free with S-A-B.

Sorry that the peacock looks a little blurry.  I colored it using the Poppin' Pastels technique.  Because it's a more subtle color, I couldn't get a good photograph.  Come to my Customer Appreciation Celebration on Saturday to see how much better it looks in person :)

Very Thankful Turtle

We will be making this card (or one similar) Saturday (March 13) at my Customer Appreciation Celebration.  This event is to thank my current customers and also welcome new ones.  Let me know if you'd like to come and I'll send you complete details.  (This event is free.)

Also, there will be several items available for sale that I'd like to clear out of my craft room -- designer series paper, stamps, punches and more.

Hope to see you Saturday!  Feel free to bring a friend.

Sue

Animal Stories Owl

Here's a card I did back when the new catalog came out, but I've never posted it.  So, I decided to share it now since Animal Stories is one of the stamp sets you can earn for free during Sale-a-bration.

I punched a circle out of a Post-It note, stuck it near the center of the card and then began sponging around the circle.  After removing the Post-It circle, I was left with a moon surrounded by lots of colors;

I used a branch from another stamp.  It didn't start out a branch, but I used my imagination.  The owls were cut out and then adhered to the card.

Stampin' Up Event Schedule for March

Hi Stampers.  I have several great events planned for March.  I hope you can make it to one or more!

Early Registration Bonus:  Register and pre-pay for any event (except Hostess Stamp Club) by Monday, March 8 and be entered in a drawing for a "thank you" gift (1 entry for each event).  Receive a bonus entry for each friend (new to me) who registers and pre-pays.  Think Bunko here.  It's fun, it's social, all the money goes towards prizes!  Plus, we need 12 to make it happen.  Drawing will be held after the last class of the month.

Do It All Bonus:  Register and pre-pay for all 5 events this month and receive a $5 gift certificate (plus be entered in the drawing).

Okay, the calendar didn't come out as crisp (or as large) as I'd like.  I'll work on that.  In the meantime, here it is:

Stamp Club:  Thurs., March 4 at 10:00am and 7:00pm.  We'll make 3 cards (2 Easter, 1 St. Pat's Day).  Cost:  $7 (free for members or with $35 purchase).  (Get location when RSVP)

Bunko:  Fri., March 12 at 7:00pm at my house.  Play 2 rounds of Bunko (a super easy, fun dice game), make 2 projects, snack, socialize and have fun!  A great "girls' night out!"  Cost:  $12.50 -- entire amount goes into prize kitty.  Everyone wins!  Prizes range from $5 - $40.  You pick your prize from the catalog  based on the amount you win (just pay shipping and tax).

Customer Appreciation Celebration:  Sat., March 13th from 10:00am to noon at my house.  I've been a demo for a year now and want to say, "thank you," to all of my customers.  I really do appreciate you all.  There will be make-and-takes, door prizes, munchies and samples out for ideas.  Bring a friend and earn two extra door prize tickets.  FREE

Spring/Mother's Day Stamp Camp:  Wed., March 20 from noon to 4:00pm at St. Andrews UMC (Fellowship Hall).  Come make 8 spring and mother's day themed projects for $25.  Also, door prizes, snacks and time for socializing with other stampers.  Because of the way this event is set up with other demonstrators, it's imortant that you register through me.  Thanks!  Participants are asked to bring bag(s) of rice or beans for the earthquake victims in Haiti.  This is voluntary, but if you do, you'll be entered in a special door prize drawing.

Easter Class:  Wed., March 24 at 9:30 am and 6:30 pm at St. Andrews UMC (Bible Classroom).  Make 3 fun Easter projects that kids and adults will enjoy.  This class is good for adults or as a "mommy and me" class.  Cost:  $7 (per group of projects) -- 1/2 the fee will be donated to the SAUMC preschool.

I will be happy to provide directions when you RSVP (919 773-9233 or stampin_sue@nc.rr.com).

Thanks, Sue
